Time for my June post.

Once again I’d like to take up my own webspace to rant a bit about OSAS (Once Saved, Always Saved). For my text today, we’ve got Romans 8, which is actually a famous Calvinist prooftext mother lode. But I’ll not be dealing with the “predestination” portion of the text.

Of course, there are two problems I have with OSAS theology. The first is merely philisophical: The logical conclusion is, we don’t need to work to reclaim those who are “backslidden”. I’ve heard Christian friends speak of their lapsed loved ones, sorry about the way they’re living, but at least they’ve got their “Golden Ticket”. I’m sorry, but if my loved one is lapsed, I’m going to do all I can to bring him back.

The second problem is, of course, one of exegesis. I just don’t see OSAS in scripture. Romans 8 is as good a text as I need to prove it.
