If you’re an adult, and you haven’t read The Chronicles of Narnia, you need help. I beg you to read them!!! They’re wonderful for reading aloud to your kids, but I’d recommend you read through them for yourself first.
If you’ve already read and/or seen The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, I’d recommend you read them in Narnia Chronology order, which is:
To the Lists!

Here’s the thing…I love to read. But I must be stopped. I’ve started 12 books in the last month. Granted, two of them will take me all year to read (the Bible, and The Encyclopedia of Bible Difficulties), but I just got an Amazon order with three more books in it, and I’ve only started one of them. You can bet I’ll be reading the intros to the other two before the weekend is up. I’m scary!
Of course, starting books is the first step toward finishing them, so there’s some good here. And two of the books are under 200 pages, so that should help. I’ll probably finish one of them today. But still…I shouldn’t be reading 10 books at a time…

Am I the only one who sometimes thinks it’s strange that Jacob even *got* a blessing? I mean, he plays his brother out of his birthright (totally Esau’s fault, of course), then goes along with Dear Old Mum about wrangling Esau’s blessing out of Old Blind Zeke? And yet, in Genesis 28, we have this message to him from God:
Genesis 28:15 (NIV):
15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.
As my son would say, “That’s instirring.”
More instirring stuff follows

The Chronicles of Narnia are some of my favorite books. Ever. Just about every time I read through them, I have a different favorite. From Aslan singing Narnia into existence in The Magician’s Nephew to the wonderful imagery of the Utter East in Voyage of the Dawn Treader to the stumbling, sorrowful Aslan heading for the Stone Table in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to the ever pessimistic but always steady Puddleglum in The Silver Chair, it’s a series that I don’t think could ever get old. And a sentence that might never have ended…
But there’s another set of Chronicles I’d like to bring to the attention of my legions of loyal reader(s). But first, a bit of a prologue…

Unfortunately, I didn’t make my predicted total of 56. I fell one book short, even though I finished Alas, Babylon (fantastic, by the way) on January 1st. But I can’t count fractions of a book, or it’d all get a bit cornfusing. So, I go with Finish Date as the marker for a book in a given year. Of course, this means that the book I started in 2005 and got 125 pages into will show up on my 2008 list when I finish the remaining 250 pages, when in fact I’ll only have read 66% of it this year.
Curious about what, exactly, I read this year? Here’s the list:
The list is long, but distinguished
