I’ll be surprised if Cook wins, and I actually think he’ll do better post-Idol if he grabs the Silver Medal. David “Golly gee oh my heck I’m so overwhelmed” Archuleta seemed to win handily last night, and I think he’ll take the title.
I don’t feel the need to go song by song for my [...]

Since the contestants sang three songs this week, I went with “Triple Play” for the title of my recap. Also, because Asdrubal Cabrera of the Cleveland Indians pulled off an unassisted triple play two nights ago. That’s only happened fourteen times in the history of the Major Leagues. Go watch the video [...]

It’s occurred to me this year that, at this stage of the competition, I’m not looking for the singers to be versatile. I’m looking for them to be themselves. So, while it’s nice that Syesha could mold herself into two very different styles, it sort of leaves me not really knowing who she [...]

I figure I should make room in my new Theme Enhanced Blog for some relatively Deep Thoughts. To that end, I give you Theology Thursday. Which basically means that if I have thoughts about Scripture or Church or anything like that, I’ll write them up but won’t actually post them until Thursdays. [...]

When Ryan announced that the judges would only comment after the second performances, I thought, “This is to make it so Paula doesn’t have to struggle to be lucid twice in the same evening.” Wow, was I right. And then, to find out that she apparently takes notes during the dress rehearsals in [...]

It’s Neil Diamond night.
Just let that sink in.
Wait for it.
Almost there.
Even now, you’re reeling from the shock of it, aren’t you? As the great sage Bob Wiley once said, “There are two types of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don’t.”
I would actually dispute that the other kind [...]

Right up front, I must admit I couldn’t restrain myself…I had to go for new levels of Dubyaism on the title. I realize I used the same technique with my “Countryficationery” post a while back. But I didn’t feel I went quite over the top on that one, so this should rectify that [...]

I thought the theme this week was a really good challenge. The judges rightly harp on contestants who try to copycat industry Divas (for some reason nobody criticizes the men for similar offenses), a phenomenon I call Whitlash. Sorry, Mariah, but Whitney just got in the game before you did. And it’s [...]

I guess I should mention right off the bat that I’m very “Meh” about Idol Gives Back. It really just means an egregiously long Results Show, and that irks me. However, it is cool that such a huge hit as AI would take the time out to do something good. So, I’ll [...]

Pardon me while I celebrate Country Week.
wooo
Glad we got that out of the way.
This week, we got treated to the contestants singing songs from an artist with huge…numbers of songs I didn’t know she wrote (I was this close to writing “tracts of land”…good thing I didn’t).
